Purple Heart Day

August 7, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

We will see the reading of the names of the Purple Heart Monument in front of the Veteran’s Museum is a long-standing tradition, one we cherish. This year’s event, as every year, takes place on  August 7th (the first Saturday of the month of August). We will commence with the ceremony at noon, and the weather should be very agreeable. After the formal ceremony, which should run until about 12:30, we have a meet-and-greet opportunity for the community.

August 7th is the day that George Washington created the Purple Heart, to honor those who exemplify extraordinary service in battle. This evolved to be reflective of those who were wounded in combat. This was a 1932 revision by the War Department. We are proud to be part of this experience with all in our nation.
