ASSOCIATED MEMBERS – CHAPTER 0049
MEMBERSHIP. Membership as Associate Member is hereby granted pursuant and subject to the terms and conditions set forth in our Congressional Charter. Public Law 85-761 of the Congress of the United States of America, and subject to the various rules, restrictions, regulations, and limitations set forth in the Constitution and Bylaws of the parent organization. Membership as an Associate Member of the parent organization shall be granted on the basis of, and subject to, Paragraph (b) of Section 6 of the Congressional Charter, whether the Purple Heart Recipient is alive or deceased, to “parent and lineal descendants: of all persons who are eligible for membership in the parent organization, as set forth in Paragraph (b) of Section 6 hereinabove referred to.”
PURPOSE. The purpose of Associate Membership is to assist in furthering and perpetuating the object of the Military Order of the Purple Heart of the U.S.A., Inc., as set forth in Article III of the Constitution of the National Corporation, with particular reference to so much of same as pertains and refers to “assisting, comforting, and aiding all distressed members and their dependents.”
PARTICIPATION. An Associate Member shall be without a vote and may not hold an elective office but may hold an appointed position except that of Adjutant.
EMBLEM OR INSIGNIA. Upon acceptance, Associate Members shall be entitled to wear an appropriate emblem or insignia as approved by the National Adjutant. In no event shall such emblem or insignia bear a replica or facsimile of the Purple Heart as awarded by the United States Government.

Luc Perez, an Associate Member of Chap. 0049, receives honors from Chula Vista Police Dept. Chief Berajano. Luc was named Explorer of the Year and presented with a plaque.
The plaque reads, in part: "The Explorer of the Year Award is presented to you for your outstanding commitment to the Chula Vista Police Dept. Explorer Post. Since joining the program over 2 years ago you have consistently offered your assistance in additional duties beyond the scope of your rank. In 2012 you volunteered over 150 hours to the Post, which includes many DUI checkpoints and various civic events throughout San Diego County."
Luc is a full-time student at a local college and he also volunteers at the Chula Vista Veterans Home. "ATTA BOY, LUC" ... from the Sunny Jones Chapter.
